Cost-effective monitoring, collection and transmission of data through WSN to a crop farm decision making system leads to promising applications, namely Precision Agriculture.
Agrosense is one of several worldwide efforts, a small FP7 EU funded project (~1M Eu) that looks into this application area along with remote sensing based on low-altitude unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) digital imagery in collaboration with the URSUS group. The team is integrated by researchers from various scientific institutions in Italy, Serbia and Slovenia.
Their main approach is to leverage data fed by WSN in the fields to encompass the challenges of UAV remote sensing. More about the project can be found here
