Scalable Wireless Networks

With the explosive proliferation of mobile communication and wireless computing devices, the scalability property is becoming an increasingly popular and important issue in wireless communication research, as it has been recognized as one of the key features for supporting pervasive networking scenarios.

The International Journal of Communication Networks and Distributed Systems (IJCNDS)  has a call for papers for a special issue on “Scalable Wireless Neworks”.

The aim of this special issue is to bring together the state-of-the-art research contributions that address the major opportunities and challenges of scalable wireless communication and networking, with emphasis on the design, analysis and evaluation of new techniques and novel application scenarios.

SANS 2009

The International Workshop on Scalable Ad Hoc and Sensor Networks (SASN ’09) is to be held in Saint Petersburg (Russia), October 12-14 2009. It will bring together a highly qualified group of researchers and developers interested in the design, development and evaluation of scalable ad hoc and sensor networks so that they can share their results and experiences, exchange innovative ideas, and establish potential collaborations, especially between the Academia and the Industry.

With the explosive proliferation of mobile communication and computing devices, the scalability property is becoming an increasingly popular issue in wireless communication research, as it has been recognized as one of the key features for supporting pervasive networking scenarios. The scalability concept involves several dimensions, like the node number, the data load, the user/application number, etc, and it is the basis to break up the cellular concept enriching it by multi hop communications. The workshop will focus on fundamental challenges and issues in the fields of scalable ad hoc and sensor networks, and it will highlight the newest trends in this emerging area.
